Okay, third graders, help me out here! When I was in school I must have been asleep when the teacher taught about map skills. I am trying to find my way to a meeting this Saturday in Mount Vernon, Georgia. I don't know whether I have to drive north, south, east, or west. I called the man in charge of the meeting and he told me to use the compass rose that was on my map. Now, I have looked all over my map, I even used a magnifying glass, and I don't see any flowers at all! There is not a single rose anywhere on my map.
Well, I was talking to Mrs. Townsend this morning and she told me that the third graders were learning all about maps. Can you help? Where do I look on the map for a compass rose? What is a compass rose? How will it help me? I need some help here, guys!!
Oh, and while you're at it, will you see if you can find Mount Vernon, Georgia on a map and let me know if I have to go north, south, east, or west? I am seriously LOST!

A compass rose is at the side of the map. I know a lot of places on a map and like Ga,Miss,all kind of stuff on a map. I am good at finding places.
A map is a thing that tells you where you can find the place you need to go. Like if you wanted to find New Jersy you have to look ona map.
